On Tuesday, 22 July 2025, life in the Philippine capital came to a standstill as torrential rains caused massive flooding across Metro Manila. In a matter of hours, major rivers like the Marikina River burst their banks, forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate. This natural disaster is expected to cause temporary disruption to some ongoing domestic helper deployment processes between the Philippines and Singapore.
The Philippine authorities have confirmed that over 23,000 residents living along the Marikina River were evacuated overnight. Another 25,000 people in Quezon City and Caloocan have also been displaced. Schools, public offices, and some transport services in Manila and surrounding provinces were suspended to ensure public safety.
With heavy flooding still ongoing in certain parts of Metro Manila, the immediate concern is the safety and well-being of the local population—including many of our valued Filipino maid candidates and their families.

There is no cause for alarm if you are in the process of shortlisting or planning to hire a Filipino helper. On average, it takes about 3 to 3.5 months from the point of selection to the arrival of a Filipino maid in Singapore. By the time your chosen helper is ready to fly, the flooding situation in Manila would most likely have already subsided, and processes would resume as normal.
